CAF Confed Cup: Zanaco host tricky RS Berkane

Zambia’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Sensational Zanaco will this afternoon take on Moroccan giants RS Berkane.

The Bankers have a point to their name following the 1-1 draw away in DR Congo against Motema Pembe while Berkane has three points after thrashing ESAE 3-0.

Captain Fantastic ‘Ziyo Tembo’ is fit again and has been included in the 19-Man squad for the crunchy encounter.

Midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu will miss the match due to the ‘unnecessary’ Red Card he received in the first group match against DC Motema Pembe.

Head coach Numba Mumamba is expecting a tough match this afternoon. He is, however, targeting a win following the draw on matchday one.

On the Kelvin Kapumbu, he believes the team has players who are equal to the task and will fill in the gap left by the defensive midfielder.

“Coming from a one-all draw in Congo, it is important that we work hard in this next match and collect the desired points,” he said.

Our opponents won their first match and they were runners up in this competition last season and that alone tells us how good they are. We have to work hard- Numba

“I think we have done our best to make sure everything is ready and we are going into this match to fight to get a win because that will put us in a better position to qualify to the quarter-finals.”

” We will miss Kapumbu, he is one of our valuable players but we have other guys who can deliver in his position.”

And team captain Ziyo Tembo hinted on an offensive-minded approach and went on to call on the fans to turn out in numbers.

” We have to be offensive in this game. We will use our strength and attack more so that we get goals.”

“The fans are important to us and play a big role more especially that we home tomorrow, we are representing mother Zambia so let them come in numbers and help us get positive results tomorrow.”

The Bankers play host to RS Berkane of Morocco this afternoon at Heroes Stadium in a Matchday 2 CAF Confederation Cup match at Heroes Stadium.
