CAF CL: No Owino in Zesco must win game against Etoile
Zesco United will be without defense kingping David Owino Odhiambo in their must win home CAF Champions League group stage final round game against Etoile du Sahel on Tuesday afternoon.
The Zesco United technical bench confirmed to the ZamFoot Crew that the Kenyan international has failed to recover from an injury in time for the game while the rest of the players are available for selection.
He missed the away game against Mbabane Swallows which Zesco won 3 – 0 and has not played in the two league games that have seen Zesco draw against Lumwana Radiants and lose to Kabwe Warriors.
In his absence, coach George Lwandamina played another Kenyan international Anthony Akumu Agay and Solomon Sakala in the away game in Eswatini and they were outstanding but in the last two league games Akumu has been paired with Marcel Kalonda, the partnership he is expected to go with in the game against the visiting Tunisians.
Zesco are currently in third position with 5 points in Group C. They will need to beat Etoile and hope Mbabane Swallows gets a result away in Angola against Primero de Agosto to have any chance of making the quarter finals on this year’s competition.
The Tunisians have already qualified with an unassailable 11 points while Primero have fate in their hands.
Swallows also have a chance to qualify if they win away and Zesco loses at home to Etoile.
Zesco host Etoile du Sahel at Levy Mwanawasa stadium on Tuesday in a game that kick off at 15.00hrs.
