CAF CL: Kabaso, Kalaba, Sinkala star as Mazembe reach quarter finals
Congo giants TP Mazembe have qualified to the quarter finals of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League after a 2 – 0 home win over CS Constantine of Algeria.
Zambian internationals Kabaso Chongo, Rainford Kalaba and Nathan Sinkala were all involved in the match that saw Mazembe end the group stages as Group C winners.
Chongo and Kalaba were named in the starting XI with the former playing in central defense while the latter was attacking from the midfield with goals coming from J Muleka who scored from the spot and M Mputu who benefited from a Muleka assist.
The 32 year old Kalaba was substituted in the 70th minute while Sinkala was introduced with 5 minutes to play.
Mazembe top group c on 11 points and will be joined by Constantine who sneak in ahead of Club Africain of Tunisia on goal difference after both sides finished on 10 points.
Ismaily are the bottom club in the group having managed only two points.
Other teams that have confirmed qualification are Kennedy Mweene’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Es Tunis, Horoya, Al Ahly and Clatous Chama’s Simba. A last minute goal by Chama saw his Tanzanian club through to the quarter finals.
