Barclays Cup: Zesco storm semis with win over Blades
Super sub Maybin Mwaba scored a late winner to help Zesco United come from behind to beat sharp Konkola Blades 2 – 1 to qualify to the semi finals of the 2016 Barclays Cup.
George Lwandamina made only three changes to the team that lost 2 – 0 to Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend bringing in Lameck Nyangu in goal, Dauti Musekwa in defence and Mwape Mwelwa in midfield.
But the league champions seemed to be suffering from a champions league exit hangover and they were punished with a goal in the first half by the division one side.
Kilo Mwepu put the sharp Blades ahead in the 35th minute and they held on to the lead through the break.
Misheck Chaila who has just been dropped from the Chipolopolo squad that will play Nigeria started the come-back for Zesco with a goal after the break.
Mwaba then came in for Clatous Chama to scored the second which sent Zesco to the Semis.
The semi final line up now has Zesco, Power Dynamos, Nkana and Zanaco.
