Augustine Mulenga now a complete player

Zambia national team winger Augustine Kabaso Mulenga on thursday, January 18th, Scored a brace as he led Chipolopolo to the quarter finals of the on-going CHAN tournament in Morocco.

The Sensational Zanaco wing wizard was in terrorizing mode and made defenders run and work whenever he had the ball. The epitome of his performance was the two goals but more so the second goal.

After receiving a pass from Enerst Mbewe, Mulenga beat three Ivorian defenders leaving them on the floor before putting the ball passed Zedi Ble in the Ivorian goal to complete his brace. The brace means Mulenga has now scored three goals in two games so far at CHAN.

The former Nkwazi man has always been an asset and in 2017 he had his best season yet. The tricky winger was beating defenders at will, Creating a lot of chances and making assists but had not really mastered the art of scoring goals.

The Zambia National team world cup qualifiers against Algeria are proof of how poor his finishing ability was but after the two sublime finishes yesterday it’s clear the 2017 Zambia super league player of the year is now near perfect.

His ability to beat defenders allows him to find goal scoring opportunities and he could not utilise them to the fullest in the past but has now mastered how to do it.

Mulenga is surely a top talent and he can only get better if he keeps his discipline levels and works even harder.

AKM is in the move , what is also very positive is his temperament. He has a lot of maturityand i think very positive in his mental approach

You are spot on on Augustine’s maturity and temperament. I want to believe his time at Police out fit (Nkwazi FC) could have played a role in his discipline and maturity. Generally, Buffaloes and Red Arrows players too have that maturity in them. Militarily discipline at play. Its good!

  2. Mark c says:

Mulenga is like a venon when attacking he is marvel to watch. Believe me this guy is going places

  3. irrationalman says:

@soccerguru = football is about current form. and for the past two games he has been consistence. Our excitement is reasonable. The Ivory coast game was good to watch. there is still room for the players to tied up things in the midfield and upront: I think we dont have to rush but enjoy the game with passes. the coach should tell the boys to enjoy passing it as a priority.

  4. Bennny says:

MULENGA is very good player what is needed is hard work and discipline many Zambian player were marvelous 2 watch but their careers were short lived e.g Emmanuel mayuka,Bruce Musakanya to mention but few so l urge MULENGA to keep working so hard so that he can move to Europe like Manet Zambian players pliz wake up stop ending in South African clubs!!!!!!

  5. Tony mash says:

I watched augustine mulenga playing in harare this guy is a rare species. The boy has pace and skill. To me he is a nemesis. There is no doubt that he is one of the most deadly wingers on the continent.

  6. Anita says:

Mulenga must not end up in south Africa or the racist Arab world. Target the Advanced European leagues who will to some extent Care about your development.

  7. Simmz Simwinga says:

keep soaring Augustine, the sky is not the limit.

  8. Zagwa says:

One thing should worry us though, why so late!!! 28 years is quite late for one to mature at that age. It was the same with Kalengo!!! Is there something our league is missing??? Do coaches ignore these guys or they just don’t know how to play them to their strengths??? Mulenga is good, but why should we see this now?!??

  9. Don says:

@ Zagwa….Good points you raised there, it seems as if there are no soccer academies in Zed where we can monitor the progression of up coming players.

  10. Irrationalman says:

    @zagwa. Very correct.

  11. Anita says:

It could be he matured late in his career and nothing to do with his handlers.

    • Luapula bize says:

That’s some good point Anita. Just like in school, we had guys whom with thought were ifikopo (dull)… Flanking at will mu grade 7…Ama repeaters; but did so well in their later years in school. They passed and managed going to UNZA and CBU mubukulu.

  12. BYONKABYO says:

Most of our zambian coaches don’t create but they expect from players

  13. Amandla says:

I criticized him so much after the Algeria encounter. He has matured out of it! I had urged the coach to help him practice shooting in all training games. He impressed me beyond measure. I have not seen good ball control like he had in a long time! That could only be done by the late (Dominic Mutale, Nkana and Zambia), the genius or Alex Chola. If you play like that in all the remaining matches, I assure you you are going to Europe!

  14. Zambian Buffalo says:

I noticed Auga first time he was called for national duties, have never been a fan of Zanaco and Nkwazi but was a marvel to watch and I kept on bitting myself ninshi kanshi Auga will not learn on his poor finishing. Now is reincarnated and would love to see also the planga Ng’onga to do the same, Yes or no the coach will never drop Ng’onga and better he improves for the sake of the nation.

  15. Bsimms says:

Augustine Mulenga’s exhibited composure when scoring the two goals is a traite one injured player can only dream of…..

  16. Soccerguru says:

Don’t get too excited u monkeys…let him get results
