Augustine Mulenga heading to Egypt…as he is a doubt for CHAN

Zambia’s chances of lifting the CHAN trophy could suffer a blow as star winger Augustine Mulenga could sign for an Egyptian club.

And the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal that the Zambian Player of the Year is being courted by either Al Ahly or Zamalek plus unnamed Egypt side.

Though he could state the team, Chipolopolo Boys assistant coach Aggrey Chiyangi revealed that the 27 year old winger was locked up in a meeting with FAZ General Secretary Ponga Liwewe as they try to find a solution.

“On Augustine, he should be meeting the GS over his availability,” Chiyangi said immediately after the team broke camp for Christmas break.

The former Nkwazi winger was in superb form this year and established himself of the key figures for Zambia.

Should he leave for Egypt next week, then it’s unlikely that he will be in Morocco.

While Godfrey Ngwenya, has been operating on the left wing, he is not an out and out winger.

It will leave Wedson Nyirenda with only Ernest Mbewe and Mike Katiba as the only other recognised wingers plus teenage winger Lameck Banda who had an indifferent Cosafa tournament.

With Zesco United’s John Ching’andu ruled out of the tournament, the team lacks in attacking areas especially in wide areas and central midfield.

There has been suggestions that Wada Wada can have a look at former Napsa Stars duo Chitoshi Mukuma and Youremember Banda who have since joined Zanaco and Green Buffaloes respectively.

  1. it’s true mulenga, has been very good although lacking precision on the goal, but I still feel the national team can do without him. They are a lot of talented players in the camp. The coach must continue using ngwenya. He has a thunder bolt.his shot is like bullet from AK47.He is much more precise on the goal than mulenga. He is always found at the right position to shoot. Although mulenga has speed and dribbling skills, he needs to work on his end product. You remember Banda needs another season to prove that he is fitt,to represent Zambian. But just in the defence I feel the coach should call billi, mutale. He can also think of shadrick musonda, from nkana,to support strickers.

  2. Let the young man play CHAN first, the rest will follow . Ba FAZ this where Fatherly love comes into play, advise him wisely to wait for the tournament. If he insists then Ba Coach play Ngonga in Mulenga’s position and advise him not to go for personal glory. I rest my case and I thank you .

  3. Mulenga please think twice about Egypt so that you don’t end up like all the other Zambian players.
WHERE IS CHARLES ZULU I STILL BELIEVE THE BOY CAN DO WONDERS ON THE WINGS.

  4. Most likely a lucrative deal awaits Mulenga after CHAN yet I will also say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush…..so iliko tricky, follow your heart my Augustine.

  5. North Africans have a tendency of holding on to players, even if they want to go higher. A good example is Kenneth bubble malitoli.Esperance football club did hold on to him a lot, even when he became one of the deadliest strikers in Africa. They deliberately hicky, the value of the a player so that he should not be bought. The same may happen to mulenga. Patients pays.More especially if FAZ advised him to be patient. He better listen to FAZ.ponga liwewe, was advising to wait.he should listen to ponga.Remember mulenga from power, he went to sundown, kalusha, bwalya advised the boy to wait, but he didn’t listen, where is he now.

  6. This is very sad. I like the guy and judging by how Zambian players have been treated in Egypt, I’m afraid this will end up in disaster as well. He is really talented and should have held up for a better destination.

  7. Not Egypt, Augustine should jst wait especially that zanaco will be playing outside zambia next year to market his skill. There is even Chan. we have seen from past players that Egypt is not a good destinations for our zambian talets.

  8. No Zambian player has ever made it in Egypt. it is not just about playing football but also the cultural differences which affect our players. Those people (arabs) are also racists ie they are not like Europeans to a great extent (not very civilized socially). They want to treat black Africans like slaves. Culturally their moslem faith allows that and this greatly affects the perfomance of black players in these north African countries. Egypt is not a good destination for this talented lad. I know what im talking about having lived for some time among these people (arabs) in their country.

  9. Augustine Mulenga, you are a very good player,,history has shown that Egypt is not the best destination for Zambians for Professional Soccer…Rethink about this Offer..

  10. Egypt yena aweee!! Play some Chan tournament my boy and everything will fall into place. You may end up getting a better deal even in europe. Patience mwana. You are one of the best in Zambia no doubt about it, but just hang on.Egypt has taught us a lot of lessons as far as Zambian players is concerned.
