65 coaches in race for Zesco United coaching job

65 coaches from across the world have applied for the head Coach job at zesco United.

The job that fell vacant in November 2016, after then head coach George Lwandamina resigned.

Club media and Public Relations officer Katebe Chengo told www.zescounitedfc.com in an interview that the closing date for the applications was Monday, 9th January 2017.

65 applications were received from coaches across the world, or course we have notable names from Africa but we will not give any details on that for now.Of these, there are only five Zambians with the rest being Europeans (French, Swiss, Belgian, Spaniards, Britons, Serbians, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Romanian, Greek), Nigerians, Ghanaian, Kenyans, Zimbabweans, Ugandans, Cameroonians, Egyptians, South African and Tanzanians.

Chengo said a committee has been constituted to scrutinize the applications and the shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews and the club will announce the new coach as soon as the process is completed.

The club through the media office is also set to announce the final team list for 2017 after the 15th January which is the deadline for CAF registration.

As you know the team only resumed training yesterday (Monday) and the CAF registration is still underway so we will announce the final list for all the players who will be in our books for the 2017 CAF and FAZ/MTN league.

Chengo also said there has been a delay in the arrival of replica jerseys due to the festive holidays

She said the company that was assigned to sent the jerseys only reported yesterday (Monday) after closing for the festive season.

    Does this indicate how big Zesco has become? I hope so and wish this would also be the case with the playing stuff , let alone the business on the field of play.

    wow….there must be some serious money on the table for this job. If only FAZ could make independent decisions when selecting coaches just like clubs can. Now with FAZ its until even the country President has a say (wonder were he got his football administrative skills from).
